System Requirements

Bontq is a web-based SaaS(Software as a Service).
To use the Web Interface you need only a Web Browser.
We Officially Support Internet Explorer(6-8), Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Google Chrome.

To run the Desktop Client you need the latest version of Java Virtual Machine installed.

Canceling Bontq Subscription

  • Go to your PayPal Account
  • Find one of the payments that were made to Bontq(BONTQ LLC).
  • In the Information Page of this Payment you'll find a link to the "Subscription Plan Details". Click it.
  • Find and click the "Cancel Subscription" link on this page

Changing Credit Card Information

Bontq doesn't store your Credit Card Information. To change it go to your PayPal Account.

Hosting Bontq on your own Server

Right now Bontq is a self-hosted solution Only. Stay tuned

Switching to another Plan

  • Log in to your account
  • Go to the Account Settings by clicking the "Account" link in the top-right corner
  • Choose one of the available plans you'd like to upgrade/downgrade to

User Types on Bontq

  • Admin - usually is the Account creator, can doe everything in all items and created companies and Projects
  • User - can create and do everything only in items that the user is assigned to, can't create project or companies
  • Client - can only comment and attach files in items client is assigned to

Item Types on Bontq

  • Bug - classical defect that needs to be closed as soon as possible
  • Feature Request - best for requesting something new from developers
  • Notice - fast item that is reported fast and then changed to something else
  • Task - works just like task in project management, project group can be assigned
  • Test Case - a “howto” documentation that usually describes the testing scenario

Adding an object to Bontq

Web-Interface: Click the "Add New" Button and choose the desired object.

Desktop Client:
  • Right-Click your System Tray Icon
  • Choose "Project Browser"
  • Select the project you'd like to add your item to
  • Pick up one of the item types in the top right corner of the Desktop Client
  • Click the "ADD" Button

Generating Report

  • Go to "Reports" Tab in the Web Interface
  • Select the desired values in all available options
  • Assign the "Related Users" by clicking the "Related Users" link
  • Click the green "Generate" Button to view your report
  • To print the report click the "Print" Icon in the top-right corner
  • To download a CSV file click the "CSV" icon in top-right corner(near the "Print" icon)

Adding a New User to the Team

  • Log in to your account
  • Click the "Users" link in the top-right corner
  • Click the green "add users" link
  • Fill in the user's information and choose the user type, assign the user to the desired company and project

Not receiving Bontq Email Notifications

In most cases you can find them in your "Spam" folder. Just add Bontq to your white list.

The Desktop Client can't be installed

In most cases the reason is the absence of Java Virtual Machine that's necessary to run the Bontq Desktop Client.

Capturing a Screenshot with the Desktop Client

  • If the Desktop Client isn't installed then login to your account and Click the "Run Desktop Client" Button from the right panel.
  • Launch the Bontq Desktop Client if it's not launched
  • Right-Click the System Tray Bontq Icon and choose "Capture Screenshot"(cross platform) or click the PrintScr keyboard Button in Windows if you wish to capture a Fullscreen Screenshot or click the Alt+PrintScr key combination to capture a screenshot of One Window(Windows Only).

- You can make as much screenshots as you'd like

Video Recording with the Desktop Client (Windows Only)

  • Launch the Bontq Desktop Client if it's not launched yet
  • Right-Click the Bontq System Tray Icon
  • Choose the "Record Video" menu item
  • Select one of the available resolutions including Full Screen or drag the corners to enlarge the form to the desired size (if you wish to record in Full Screen by pressing a hot-key, then press Ctrl+PrintScr)
  • Click the Red "Capture" Button to start recording
  • To finish recording click the blue "Stop" button (if you're recording in "Fullscreen" mode then click the Blue "Stop" Button in your System Tray near the Bontq Item)

Attaching Screenshots/Videos to the desired item with the Desktop Client

  • Capture a screenshot or record a video
  • After you do that you'll be transferred to the screenshot/video panel
  • Make the desired changes/remarks in your screenshot with our image editor or view the recorded video to verify it
  • Click the "Attach" Button in the top left corner
  • The "Project Browser" window will pop out
  • a) attaching to the existing item: choose your project in the left panel of the "Project Browser" → You'll see your items list → Pick up the item you'd like to attach the files to → click the "Attach" green button in the right top corner → Leave a comment or a description to your attachment(not necessary) → click the attach button in the bottom

    b) attaching to a new item: choose your project in the left panel of the "Project Browser" → select a desired item from the item selectbox located in the top-right corner → click the "ADD" button → your attached files will appear in the "Attachment" Box of the New Item Form, you'll be able to select the files you really want to attach → fill the item's form and assign it to one of your team's members → click the "Save" Button in the bottom of the form.

Leaving a comment from the Desktop Client

  • Launch the Bontq Desktop Client if it's not launched yet
  • Right-Click the Bontq System Tray Icon
  • Choose "Project Browser"
  • Select the desired Project
  • Click the "Comments" Tab
  • a) if you wish to reply then click the blue "Reply" link under the original comment
    b) if you wish to post a new comment then click the "Post Comment" Button located in the bottom-right corner
  • Type your comment and click the "Comment" Button

Canceling Attachment in the Desktop Client

  • After clicking the "Attach" Button a green notification will pop out in the "Project Browser" bottom-left corner
  • To cancel the attachment just click the close icon in front of the "Choose an item to attach your files" title in this green notification area

Desktop Client was signed by an untrusted user when trying to Install/Launch it

It's because your version of Java Virtual Machine isn't the newest.
To install the newest Version:
Windows/Linux: Follow the link and download the latest version: http://www.java.com/
Mac OS X: Run the "Mac OS X Software Update" and install the latest Java Update

Google Docs popup doesn't show up in Google Chrome

Google Chrome block pop-ups and doesn't notify you about it.
- Please go to Google Chrome Options, choose the "Under the Hood" Tab and click the "Pop-Ups" Tab.
- Choose "Allow" in Pop-Up Settings and Save them.

Uninstalling the Desktop Client

On Windows:
  • Go to the "Control Panel"
  • Click the "Add/Remove Programs" Icon
  • Find the application named "Bontq"
  • Click "Uninstall"

On Mac OS X:
Drag "Bontq" Icon to your Trash and then Empty it.

On Linux:
  • Find the "Sun Java Web Start" Menu Item and click it
  • Go to "General" Tab
  • Click the "View" Button in "Temporary Internet Files"
  • Find our Application in your Java Cache Viewer, choose it and click the red "Remove" Button in the Top.
  • Choose "Resources" in the selectbox in the top-left corner
  • Find our Application in your Java Cache Viewer, choose it and click the red "Remove" Button in the Top.
  • Remove all the Resources connected to Bontq by choosing them and clicking the red "Remove" Button in the Top.

Capturing a Screenshot with Delay using the Desktop Client

  • If the Desktop Client isn't installed, then login to your account and Click the "Run Desktop Client" Button, that's located in the right panel.
  • Launch the Bontq Desktop Client, if it's not launched
  • Right-Click the System Tray Bontq Icon
  • Go to "Screenshots" Menu
  • Choose "Capture with delay" and fill in the Delay time in minutes or seconds

Custom Priorities, Labels and Import from Basecamp/FogBugz

To find them Sign in to your Bontq Account, click the Gear icon in the top-right corner and then click the "Settings" link in the opened popup.
